You can't have Clark Kent without Lois Lane.

Deadline reports Smallville alum Erica Durance, who played the budding reporter for seven of the series' 10 seasons, will reprise the role for "Crisis on Infinite Earths." She joins the five-show Arrowverse crossover alongside Tom Welling, who will play the Superman to her Lois.

Durance will appear as Smallville's Lois Lane in multiple episodes. That suggests this will also be the case for Welling, although that has not been confirmed at the time of writing. "Crisis on Infinite Earths" will pick up with both characters almost a decade after the events of the series finale.

Durance is no stranger to the Arrowverse. In Supergirl Season 3, she played Alura Zor-El, the Girl of Steel's mother. Durance's Alura managed to survive the destruction of Krypton when her husband Zor-El reversed Argo City's defensive shield in an attempt to preserve it. They weren't sure if this would work, so they sent Kara ahead of them to Earth just in case, but believed she died when her pod entered the Phantom Zone.

Welling and Durance aren't the only Superman characters set for the massive crossover event. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch will also appear as Superman and Lois Lane, reprising their roles from last year's Arrowverse crossover. Superman Returns' Brandon Routh, who currently stars as a series regular on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, has been confirmed to play Kingdom Come Superman in the crossover.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" already has a star-studded list of guest stars. Batman: The Animated Series star Kevin Conroy, Black Lightning's Cress Williams, Batman 1966 star Burt Ward, Legends of Tomorrow's Jonah Hex and The Flash triple-threat John Wesley Shipp are among those appearing the crossover.
