Action movie powerhouses Sylvester Stallone and Michael Bay will be joining forces to work on an upcoming dystopian, sci-fi film called Little America

According to Deadline, Little America will show Stallone as a retired Army Ranger searching through a dystopian landscape to find the daughter of a wealthy man. Produced by Balboa Productions and AGC Studios, the film will reportedly begin shooting sometime this summer.

The site compares Little America to 1981's Escape From New York, which was directed by famed director John Carpenter and starred Kurt Russell. Escape From New York is also centered around America in a dystopian future.

Known for his work as director on the Transformers films, Michael Bay will serve as an executive producer on Little America. 

Stallone is no stranger to sci-fi action flicks, as he starred in the 1995 cult classic Judge Dredd and recently appeared in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He will also be starring in an upcoming original superhero film called Samaritan.

Little America is based on a script written by Rowan Athale, who is also set to direct the film. Athale is known for writing and directing 2012's Wasteland. He also directed the recently released film, Strange But True. Little America currently does not have a release date.
