DC Entertainment has confirmed what fans have been surmising since director David Ayer tweeted the first costumed cast photo for his upcoming "Suicide Squad" film: Slipknot and El Diablo are represented in the Belle Reve Class of 2016 pic.

Adam Beach brings Slipknot to life, a character that has comic book history with the Squad. In the DCU, Slipknot is an assassin with a mastery of his chemically-enhanced, "unbreakable" ropes. An early member of the government-run team of villains, his time on Task Force X did not end well, though he did manage to escape with his life.

Jay Hernandez is El Diablo, and looking at his makeup, this version is based on the latest incarnation of the character. In the New 52, Chato Santana, an ex-criminal, was a member of the Suicide Squad with the power to control and manipulate fire.

Along with Hernandez and Beach are Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara in what looks to be a very comics-faithful depiction of Katana (a character not previously confirmed as part of the film) and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag. The background reads "Welcome to Belle Reve," a reference to Belle Reve Penitentiary -- the DC Comics prison introduced in 1987's "Suicide Squad" #1 by John Ostrander and Luke McDonnell.

Also starring Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, "Suicide Squad" is scheduled for release on Aug. 5, 2016.
