"Sleepy Hollow" showrunner Mark Goffman has stepped down, and the search for his replacement has already begun, TVLine reports.

According to Deadline, he has signed a two-year overall deal with CBS TV Studios to supervise and develop new projects.

The Fox supernatural drama enjoyed a strong first season, averaging nearly 8 million viewers, but experienced a 40 percent decline in its second. "Sleepy Hollow" hasn't been renewed for a third season, but Deadline contends "its odds are considered promising at the moment."

Production has already wrapped on the second season. "Sleepy Hollow" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
