Buffy the Vampire Slayer has existed across multiple media, but usually within the context of a single universe. The original Buffy the Vampire and Angel continued their stories into sequel comic series and even appeared in video games. But an entirely new Buffyverse has been established in the current BOOM Comics run of the title. But given how the Hellmouth crossover ends, there could be the set-up for other versions of the Buffyverse to encounter this new one.

The conclusion of the Hellmouth crossover suggests that there's an entire multiverse of Slayers out there and that Anya could end up leading the Scobbies into in a veritable Slayer-Verse.

WILLOW'S WORLD

After helping save Sunnydale, Anya reveals to Giles that she has put together a number of maps that chart paths across multiple dimensions. With this knowledge, Anya and Giles could potentially stop other threats from breaking out and affecting Sunnydale again. Notably, not every map is of this version of Earth. Using her experience, age, and her direct connection with the Powers That Be, Anya has been able to build a series of maps that track across the multiverse. This could even end with her and the Scoobies having the ability to bring them across these dimensional boundaries.

One such world is apparently introduced in the final sequence of the issue. Taking place in an apparent version of Sunnydale that hasn't been affected by all demonic influences of the new Buffyverse, a woman appearing to be a version of Buffy Summers hangs out at the bar she works at. Her only customer is an apparent long-time friend of hers, who appears to be this world's version of Xander. In this version of Sunnydale, Buffy and Xander have been seemingly best friends for their entire lives, mimicking how Xander and Willow are typically portrayed as being childhood friends. The two are walking together when they're attacked by a vampire. However, they're saved by Willow -- who seems to be the Slayer of this world. It's a big hint at the future for the series, suggesting that the Buffyverse could just keep expanding beyond just one world.

SLAYER-VERSE

This wouldn't be the first time that alternate realities would exist within the Buffyverse, but it would make the possibility of them interacting more possible than ever. Cordelia once accidentally caused Anya to create the dark "Wish" universe when she was still a vengeance demon. There were also alternate worlds introduced in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds, including a version of Tara who'd been turned into a vampire and an incarnation of Giles who never gave him his role as the villainous Ripper. But this newest seems to confirm the existence of a canon Buffyverse multiverse.

Anya even seems to know how they can make their way through the Buffyverse multiverse. It could set up potential crossovers with all kinds of different versions of the Scoobies. It could even allow the new modern incarnation of the Scoobies to meet the original versions of the characters, who made the transition from the television series to Dark Horse sequel comic. This invites the possibility of countless other versions of Buffy to appear and co-exist with one another. It's the biggest possible way that the Buffyverse could go and could lead to an expansive and unpredictable future for the franchise.
