A new series has been announced by Skybound, known for such titles as The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead on AMC. Its newest television show will be based on the upcoming novel by Andrew Pyper, The Residence, which explores a haunted White House.

Pyper's upcoming work is a historical novel based on true accounts describing President Franklin Pierce and First Lady Jane Pierce's lives in the White House after the tragic loss of their child, shortly before Pierce was inaugurated. According to the novel, many within the estate experienced a combination of visual and auditory hallucinations while living there at the time.

The upcoming series, developed by Skybound Entertainment and RadicalMedia, will be similar to the NatGeo series, Mars, in terms of format, which means it will combine fictional scripted, history-inspired segments, alongside interviews featuring real experts on the subject. Pyper, who is a bestselling author with nine novels under his belt, is also attached to the series as executive producer.

It is also worth mentioning that only Season 1 of the upcoming series will feature President Pierce, as told in Pyper's upcoming novel. Future seasons will explore preternatural events and occurrences during the presidencies of figures such as Lincoln, Kennedy and Truman.

The Residence is set to hit shelves in September 2020. It is being published by Skybound Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
