The Avengers have had a long, contentious history with both the Skrulls and Kree over the years, and this mutually combative history will come back to haunt them in this summer's comic book crossover event, Empyre.

Marvel Comics has released a new teaser image, illustrated by John Tyler Christopher, in the style of a military propaganda poster, decrying the past actions against the Skrull Empire committed by Earth's Mightiest Heroes. With the Skrull and Kree Empires uniting under the Young Avenger Hulkling, Earth has been targeted by both extraterrestrial races in an all-out invasion.

A press release from Marvel has indicated that a Celestial surfacing on the Blue Area of the Moon will kickstart the Kree/Skrull War. Instead of the two empires warring against one another, however, they will be united against Earth this time, with only the planet's superheroes standing in their way.
