Spider-Man fans will have no doubt heard of teams like the Sinister Six or other variations like the Savage Six, but a different version of this team has now appeared a few times in the comics known as the Sinister Syndicate, or more recently, just as The Syndicate.

The Sinister Syndicate first appeared in 1986's The Amazing Spider-Man #280 when they were initially put together as a team of hired mercenaries, and have continued to regroup over the years as the various members dealt with interpersonal grudges, though the newest all-female version has added some menacing players to the already powerful team.

10 SCORPIA

Elaine Coll was a mercenary who worked for Justin Hammer before she was outfitted with cybernetic enhancements that were based on designs used for Mac Gargan's Scorpion suit, though she took the name Scorpia instead.

The current Syndicate has a few tech-based characters, with Scorpia managing to just edge White Rabbit out of the rankings due to her high-tech battle suit that includes electro-shock gauntlets and a mechanical tail stacked with weapons, whereas White Rabbit's collection of gadgets and mechs are powerful but not always readily available.

9 BOOMERANG

While Boomerang may be best known as Spider-Man's current roommate, he was also one of the earliest members of the Sinister Syndicate, though issues between him and the group's leader Beetle would push Boomerang out of the group.

Fred Myers was a tarnished superstar baseball pitcher who created his supervillain identity after he was kicked out of the sport. As Boomerang, Myers uses a number of gadget Boomerangs as well as boot-jets that allow him to fly as well.

8 LADY OCTOPUS

Lady Octopus from the Clone Saga

Dr. Carolyn Trainer took over the Doctor Octopus identity after his death during the Clone Saga, and after the return of Otto Octavius, she became known as Lady Octopus and continued to work on the wrong side of the law.

Lady Octopus' look has changed a bit since she joined the Syndicate to more reflect the animated version seen in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, though she still wears the deadly metal arms of Doctor Octopus and has a personal force field that protects her body from physical harm.

7 BEETLE(S)

Abner "Abe" Jenkins/Beetle created the Sinister Syndicate after the success of the Sinister Six, though his team was usurped by Leila Davis, who would become the armored villain known as Hardshell before she too became the Beetle.

Both wore powerful armor that contained hidden weaponry, increased their strength, and gave them the ability to fly, though they would each use the team for their own purposes. Janice Lincoln is the new Beetle, and she wears a high-tech suit designed by The Fixer as the new leader of the all-female Syndicate that she runs like a business.

6 SHOCKER

While he wasn't a part of the original line-up, Herman Schultz/Shocker joined the team in its second incarnation that appeared in the Deadly Foes of Spider-Man, and he would continue to work with the different splinter groups of the team.

Schultz created his own vibro-shock gauntlets that could generate vibratory blasts that were so powerful they forced him to wear a padded costume to protect himself. Shocker isn't the most respected villain in the Syndicate, but he is definitely one of the most powerful.

5 SPEED DEMON

The man formerly known as the Whizzer could be one of the most powerful members of the Sinister Syndicate as Speed Demon, considering that most speedsters are capable of dealing with much more powerful enemies due to the enhanced speed.

Unfortunately, Speed Demon can't seem to get out of his own way in most cases, and he has yet to live up to his full potential on his own, relegated to working for others or alongside teams despite his incredible speed.

4 HYDRO-MAN

Morris Bench was transformed after he was accidentally knocked into the ocean by Spider-Man during a battle with Namor as the Navy was testing an experimental new generator, turning him into the supervillain known as Hydro-Man.

While he was now able to transform his body into liquid and control it in various forms that made him an incredibly formidable threat, his seemingly low intelligence has frequently resulted in his easy defeat, despite his potential power levels.

3 VULTURE

Adrian Toomes was one of Spider-Man's very first villains and over the years he has proven that despite his elderly appearance, the Vulture is a powerful foe to have, and not just due to his superpowered abilities.

While his specially-designed flight harness dramatically increases his strength and gives him the ability to fly, Vulture is also a brilliantly ruthless criminal who has led teams like the Savage Six. Vulture only briefly worked with Leila Davis/Hardshell's version of the Syndicate, and he was there primarily in search of a cure for his cancer, which he eventually found.

2 RHINO

The Rhino was one of the original members of the Sinister Syndicate, and he would remain with the team in subsequent appearances, including when Hardshell reformed it in her mission to take revenge upon the Beetle.

Aleksei Sytsevich endured months of treatments to increase his strength and durability before he was bonded to his near-impenetrable second-skin armored hide, earning him the name Rhino. Unfortunately, he was trapped within his armor, so his main motivations with the Syndicate were to find scientists who would be able to remove his hide, which he eventually did.

1 ELECTRO II

Francine Frye was a former supervillain groupie who was friends with Max Dillon/Electro before she was accidentally killed by his malfunctioning powers, though she was reborn as a clone by the Jackal and stole Dillon's abilities, killing him in the process.

Francine revels in her power as the new Electro and has little compunction about using it recklessly to increase her cred as a supervillain. She hesitatingly joined with Beetle's new Syndicate after they broke her out of police custody.
