Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is full of exciting fights and stunts, and star Simu Liu did as much of it himself as possible.

Not every action star does their own stunts, but Liu trained hard for his role as the martial arts master. As a result, the fight scenes in the film have been praised as the best in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes video of him executing one of the most talked-about stunts, where he slides across the top of a bus and swings down on the side mirror arm and hits the door.

"Every breathtaking stunt in our movie is the result of months of previsualization, choreography, rehearsal, rigging and testing before we get to the shoot day," Liu wrote in the caption. "And as far as stunt teams went, we had the very best in the world."

Despite having a world-class stunt team, including the late Brad Allan, a member of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, Liu didn't get off without any injuries.

"Stunts like this baseball slide off the front of a bus felt straightforward in rehearsal but was a whole different ballgame once you factored in the hydraulics and the wind machines," Liu continued. "When you insist on practical effects, you pay the human price. The bumps and scrapes add up and in my case resulted in my knee swelling up to the size of a tennis ball after this day. Still, they had to drag me off that bus; I wanted to go over and over again until it was perfect, and then some. I loved every second of it."

Liu has been proving left and right that he's a real action hero. From doing a backflip after throwing a pitch at a Giants game to performing Black Widow's move during his audition for the film. Liu had no prior background in martial arts, but he trained heavily to be able to execute the scenes in the film. And given the film is currently the most popular comic book movie on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems audiences appreciate the hard work.

As Liu concluded, "Catch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in cinemas now, and witness some of the most incredible action sequences to grace the MCU!"
