Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simi Liu has gotten in on the fun of his fans who have been sharing old stock images pieces that he was featured in very early in his career by sharing some of his own stock images on Twitter.

However, the star also used the opportunity to not only celebrate the record-breaking box office success of his new film (the highest-grossing film to open on Labor Day weekend in United States box office history) but to also get in a little dig at people who doubted whether the film would be successful.

The actor posted his tweet on Monday night, showing one of his stock images depicting his character showing two co-workers something on a computer. He added the quote, "Me laughing at the people who thought we’d flop."

Liu, of course, has addressed these images in the past. Back in 2020, he tweeted, "Legitimately wondering if I am the greatest stock photo model of all time.

Totally unrelated note, please stop buying these photos."

He added, "I did ONE stock photo shoot fro 100 bucks cash in 2014... and I have ended up on HUNDREDS of ads and storefronts and pamphlets and textbook covers."

However, he recently noted that he was only paid $120 for the images, "Got paid 120 bucks and signed away all my rights to them because I was in credit card debt. Now they are everywhere."

Still, he was not so put out by the annoyance of seeing the old photos everywhere to not still want to get in on the fun when fans started sharing his stock images online, especially since the sharing was mostly promoting the success of his new film.

Liu is not the only major star to have done stock image work when they were just starting out, as Star Wars actor John Boyega also did some stock images of his own when he was younger, explaining that he used the money he made for the photos to buy a new pair of sneakers...

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which also stars Awkwafina, Meng'er Zhang, Fala Chen and Tony Leung, is in theatres now.
