"Star Trek" star and co-writer Simon Pegg offered more details about Idris Elba's "Star Trek Beyond" character, including the fact that his character will be a much different villain than Kahn, in an interview with MTV News.

"It’s a really interesting, complex character," Pegg revealed. However, he also made sure to mention that Elba's character won't be anything like Kahn, the villain of "Star Trek Into Darkness." "Only because it would be a retread... What we don’t want to do is have the same kind of villain with the same motivation."

Pegg also commented on the rumor that Daniel Craig will cameo in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," in which he himself will appear: "No, you won’t [see him]."

Production is under way in Vancouver on the third installment of Paramount Pictures’ rebooted "Star Trek" franchise, which Pegg told SPINOFF is “a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun.”

"Star Trek 3" features returning cast members Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Anton Yelchin and is scheduled to open July 8, 2016.
