The script for Sony's Silver and Black movie has still not been finalized yet, which is why little progress has been made on the film this year. Director Gina Prince-Bythewood previously discussed the film's delay due to script issues back in February. It seems nothing has changed since then.

Prince-Bythewood gave ScreenRant an update, saying that "The update is just really pounding out the script." As if to say the current script is not really up to her liking "It all starts with the script. You gotta have a great script so we want to make sure that's right before we jump in."

At this point, the script for Silver and Black has been passed between multiple writers, including Prince-Bythewood (Cloak & Dagger), Chris Yost (Thor: Ragnarok), Lisa Joy (Westworld), Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider) and Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking). Whether additional writers will be needed to address script issues has yet to be seen.

The film has been described as a buddy adventure between the Spider-Man anti-heroes Silver Sable and Black Cat. It is currently the only Sony superhero movie to have a release date, other than 2018's Venom. However, the tentative release date of February 8, 2019 is likely to be pushed back at this point.
