SIlver Age Christmas – “The Traveling Tree”

All December 2014, we will be celebrating a Silver Age Christmas, with great Silver Age comics about Christmas. For the sake of this endeavor, “Silver Age” will be defined as 1956-1970 (the annoying part about that is that 1951-1955 sort of fall into no man’s land, as it is not yet Silver Age but also seems to be a bit late for Golden Age).

We continue with a fun Bugs Bunny tale from 1959’s Four Color Comics #1064…

This story was written by Don Christopher with art by the great Tony Strobl and inks by Steve Steere.

The story opens up with a great premise ALREADY…

A giant carrot Christmas tree. Awesome.

However, after Bugs cons Elmer Fudd into giving him some trimmings for the tree, Bugs then comes up with an idea for ornaments for the tree, and hilarity ensues…

Very strong story.
