A new Silent Hill project, titled Silent Hill F, is in the works, with Higurashi: When They Cry creator Ryukishi07 attached to develop the story.

Silent Hill F was announced at Konami's Silent Hill Transmission showcase with a brief, cryptic teaser. The clip doesn't share all too much, although it does appear to be bringing Silent Hill out of small-town America and into rural Japan. Silent Hill F's story is being written by Ryukishi07, best known for the Higurashi: When They Cry series of murder mystery visual novels. Kera handles the character designs, which appear to heavily feature flowers in the trailer, and a former Nintendo developer Motoi Okamoto produces. Neobards Entertainment will develop the game, coming off its previous work in the horror genre with Capcom's Resident Evil series.

The trailer follows a young girl in what appears to be rural Japan as she encounters creepy dolls and strange situations. In the end, she becomes overcome with flowers growing all over her, and, in the closing moments, her face peels away. It served as one of several cryptic trailers for upcoming releases in the Silent Hills franchise, with at least three other games and a film in the pipeline.

Everything Announced in the Silent Hill Transmission

Besides F, Konami announced a remake of the beloved Silent Hill 2 and developed by Bloober Team, famed for its horror games such as The Medium and Layers of Fear. In July 2021, Bloober Team claimed it did not have a Silent Hill game currently in development. Bloober Team CMO Tomasz Gawlikowski released a carefully written response to rumors swirling at the time about the company's involvement in a Silent Hill game.

"Online speculations based on outdated or incomplete information can often lead to strange theories among gamers, so we appreciate you asking us directly," he said. "At Bloober Team we have two active internal projects, one in the production phase and one in the pre-production phase. Both are going to be bigger in scope than The Medium, however, neither of them is based on themes or premises that have been circulating online in the last days."

Return to Silent Hill adapts the story from Silent Hill 2, with hero James Sunderland attempting to locate his wife, Mary, in the strange town. Silent Hill director Christophe Gans returns to helm the project.

Silent Hill F currently has no release date.
