Commemorating the 30th anniversary of Academy Award-winning horror classic, The Silence of the Lambs, the home of the film's serial killer, Buffalo Bill, is opening its doors to the public for overnight stays.

The house, which was built in 1910 and remains located at 8 Circle Street in Perryopolis, Pa., was used as the fictional home of the infamous cinematic murderer Buffalo Bill (played by Ted Levine in The Silence of the Lambs) before it was sold to its current owner, Chris Rowan. A self-described "avid Silence of the Lambs fan and Buffalo Bill fan," Rowan is promising those who are brave enough to come visit the property a "movie-themed destination like no other." As Rowan announced, "After months and months of hard work learning how to properly open and build a business from the ground up, I am proud to say that Buffalo's Bill's House is open for victims (I mean, the public!)."

Although the house retains many attributes that remain unchanged since the filming of the 1991 classic, one major omission is the basement well that Bill used to keep his victims trapped while he prepared to make garments from their skin. Parts of the movie featuring the well were filmed on a constructed soundstage, and the well was never part of the actual house. However, Rowan revealed that he has "big plans" for the future of the house as not only a B&B, but as a "cinematic destination," which may include adding the well to make it a more film-accurate and immersive experience for fans. "I also have a vision that includes having the 'well' and 'Buffalo Bill's workshop' recreated and built on-site as permanent sets," the owner explained. "So fans may have the most unique photo opportunities during their visit with mementos that will last them a lifetime!"

The property was featured prominently throughout the horror-drama as the lair of Jame "Buffalo Bill" Gumb, where he and FBI agent, Clarice Starling (played by Jodie Foster) had their climactic stand-off. The house is a three-story Princess Anne Victorian, now open for weddings, guided tours, on-sight filming and overnight stays. The location is currently holding a contest to win a free weekend stay for two people that runs until Feb. 28, 2021.

"I have so many ideas to preserve the history of the home and share it with the many who love it as much as I do," Rowan said. "I hope to see you all soon to enjoy some fava beans and a nice chianti!"
