Dr. Grace Augustine was one of the many characters who didn't survive Avatar — and it looks like she'll be one of at least two that will return from the dead.

It's already known that Stephen Lang will be back for James Cameron's upcoming Avatar sequels, presumably as some resurrected version of Col. Miles Quaritch. Likewise, it appears Sigourney Weaver is back in the mix, if not as Grace Augustine, then as some sort of evolution of that character.

"I'll transform somewhat," she told Vulture. "It will be challenging for me. I can't talk about it, but my part is a little different in each one."

It's an interesting detail, albeit an enigmatic one. Although Weaver won't get into specifics of her role in the upcoming trilogy, she did say she's bracing herself for a hefty journey.

"It's going to be an adventure," she said. "It will be awesome. I can't even imagine what I am taking on — and what James Cameron is taking on — with filming three Avatars at once, but ... Peter Jackson did it with the Hobbit films, so we have that to look to."

The first of the new Avatar films is expected to arrive in December 2016.
