Amazon Studios is reimagining Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, Sid and Marty Krofft's bizarre tale of two boys who adopt a young sea creature.

Airing from 1973 to 1975 on ABC, the live-action series bore all of the hallmarks of the Krofft productions that preceded it, H.R. Pufnstuf, The Bugaloos and Lidsville: outlandish foam-rubber costumes, over-the-top physical comedy and lots of music.

Billy Barty played Sigmund, who was rejected by his dysfunctional undersea family for refusing to scare people. Johnny Whitaker and Scott Kolden starred as brothers Johnny and Scott, who hid Sigmund in their clubhouse from his own siblings, as well as their housekeeper and nosy neighbor (veteran character actress Margaret Hamilton).

Roy Price and Tara Sorensen are developing the pilot with Sid and Marty Krofft for Amazon.
