One of the most prominent links yet between ABC series "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the larger Marvel Studios movie world is set for the show's 15th episode, with Jaimie Alexander slated to appear in her "Thor" role of Asgardian warrior Sif, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

Alexander's appearance was announced by ABC president Paul Lee, speaking Friday to reporters at the Television Critics Association tour. According to EW, Lee said Sif will be "integral" to the episode. Given that the next new episode of the series will be its 13th and air on Feb. 4, Alexander's guest spot will likely debut later that same month.

EW further quotes Lee as saying the mysterious "Clairvoyant" will be revealed this season, and that he's feeling "very good" about the show's creative direction. The outlet also classifies "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." as "sure to return next fall," though no official announcement has been made about the series' renewal.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has received criticism from fans and critics for not having more overt tie-ins to Marvel's highly successful films, despite being set in the same fictional universe. The show's main character, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), was first seen in 2008's "Iron Man," and Samuel L. Jackson briefly reprised his role as S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury in the second episode. A November episode tied-in to the aftermath of last fall's "Thor: The Dark World," the second film to feature Alexander as Sif.
