When DC Comics first announced Sideways, it as described simply as a story about a teenager who can teleport. And while the first look at Kenneth Rocafort, Dan DiDio and Justin Jordan's new series does indeed feature precisely that, it also offers a solid example of the title's tone and place in the DC Universe.

As the teen explores his new powers, all whilst livestreaming his adventure online, his dialogue reveals that he's not only new to the superhero game - he may not aspire to be a hero at all. Not to say he's a villain, but he seems more interested in having fun and exploiting his powers for personal gain than helping others. The final page of the preview, however, show that with great power comes... those who want to kill you.
