As good as the trailer was for "Sidekick," starring "Arrow's" Emily Bett Rickards, "The Flash's" Tom Cavanagh and "Once Upon a Time's" Josh Dallas, it didn't prepare us for the actual short film. Seriously, you may want to have some tissues handy.

Written and directed by Jeff Cassidy, it's "The Princess Bride" meets superhero adventure, with Dallas and Rickards starring as James and Emma, a couple struggling with something, and Christian Cooper playing their son Billy, who senses a growing problem within the family. However, James is determined to continue their bedtime ritual -- the seemingly never-ending story of Captain Strong -- even if Billy thinks he may be getting a little too old for tales of superheroes and robots.

But what begins as yet another chapter in Captain Strong's fight against Darkman to rescue the Princess turns into something more -- something moving -- as it's clear James is trying to prepare Billy for a time when his dad will no longer be there by introducing Captain Strong's sidekick Shockwave.

It's an emotional and well-produced short, with special effects rivaling "Arrow," "The Flash" and "Supergirl" (Darkman's  assassination droid is, by itself, pretty impressive). The tears you'll undoubtedly be choking back are just an added bonus.
