Dennis Lehane and Martin Scorsese are planning a return trip to Shutter Island.

Deadline reports that HBO and Paramount Television have tapped the duo transform their 2010 psychological thriller into a TV series. Tentatively titled Ashecliffe, the project would be set before the events of Lehane's 2003 novel and Scorsese's subsequent film.

The early days of the island mental institution will be the main focus of the series, specifically the people who built the facility, and  the unique methods invented to deal with the patients.

Lehane will pen the pilot script for Scorsese to direct.
