Showtime's Halo series has found its leading man, as Orange is the New Black's Pablo Schreiber will take on the lead role of Master Chief.

In the Halo universe, Master Chief is John, kidnapped from his home as a child along with several other kids and placed into the SPARTAN super soldier program, which augmented their strength and reflexes. Chief is the most notable SPARTAN of them all, thanks to his heroic efforts to save humanity in the war against the Covenant.

Chief has been in every main Halo game as a playable character, while several spinoffs have either referenced him or featured a fellow SPARTAN soldier. Aside from his heroic nature, the character has been defined in part thanks to his relationship with his AI partner Cortana and his face never being shown. In the games, Chief is voiced by Steve Downes.

Joining Schreiber in the show will be newcomer Yerin Ha, who will play the character Quan Ah. Quan is described as a "shrewd, audacious" teenage girl from the Outer Colonies who meets Chief at a "crucial time" for both of them.
