Showtime has released a new teaser for the upcoming Dexter revival that shines a spotlight on Michael C. Hall's eponymous, "misunderstood" serial killer.

Set to Nina Simone's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," the teaser sees Dexter looking out the window to admire a roaring fire amid a picturesque snowy lakeside backdrop. In the reflection of the window, we see a person bound to a table and struggling to breathe; more importantly, Dexter sees them as well, turning around to greet his next victim with a smile.

Dexter ran for eight seasons on Showtime, featuring Hall as Dexter Morgan, a forensic expert working for the Miami Police Department. Dexter's secret life as a serial killer often brought him into conflict with his family and coworkers. The 10-episode revival was announced in October 2020.

He's smart, he's good looking, and he's got a great sense of humor. He's Dexter Morgan, everyone's favorite serial killer. As a Miami forensics expert, he spends his days solving crimes, and nights committing them. But Dexter lives by a strict code of honor that is both his saving grace and lifelong burden. Torn between his deadly compulsion and his desire for true happiness, Dexter is a man in profound conflict with the world and himself.

Created by Clyde Phillips, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall, Clancy Brown, Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah and Jack Alcott. Showtime's revival series has yet to receive a premiere date.
