Quibi will be the newest streaming service to hit the scene when it launches on April 6. While it seems that there are endless streaming platforms on the market these days all battling for viewers' attention, Quibi has an interesting hook: every episode or installment is 10 minutes or less and can only be viewed on a mobile device. The content comes in three formats: movies in chapters, unscripted reality shows and documentaries, and daily essentials, which are lifestyle focused.

Quibi, an amalgamation of the words "quick" and "bites," is offering exactly that: small, easily digestible bits of media that can be consumed quickly. Whether you love or hate the idea, Quibi is clearly aiming to appease the ever-shortening attention spans of today's entertainment consumers. And if you're a fan of sci-fi, fantasy or horror, there will be plenty for you to enjoy. Here are a few of Quibi's sci-fi, fantasy and horror offerings in quick bites, just the way the platform likes it.

THE STRANGER

A thriller that tracks a mysterious passenger (Dane DeHaan, Chronicle) and his ride-share driver (Maika Monroe, It Follows) through a chilling chase in the underbelly of Los Angeles. The Stranger is written and directed by Veena Sud (The Killing).

CODE 8 SPINOFF

From Stephen Amell (Arrow) and Robbie Amell (The Flash) comes a spinoff series based on their 2019 film Code 8. It's set several years after the movie and takes place in a world where a small percentage of the population possesses supernatural abilities.

TOYS

An adaptation of the popular dystopian novel by James Patterson, which follows the story of a not-too-distant-future where DNA manipulation has divided humans into two groups: the genetically enhanced Elites and the unaltered Basics. Melinda Hsu Taylor is set to adapt, which is promising due to her past projects, which include Lost, Falling Skies and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, to name a few.

WHEN THE STREETLIGHTS GO ON

This murder mystery follows the killing of a young girl and the effects the murder has on her community during the investigation. This show boasts major star power with Chosen Jacobs (It), Sam Strike (Chernobyl), Queen Latifah (Chicago), Tony Hale (Arrested Development), and Mark Duplass (The Morning Show).

DON'T LOOK DEEPER

This sci-fi/drama series stars Emily Mortimer (Shutter Island) and Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) and centers on a high-school student who suspects she may not be human. The kicker? The story is set 15 minutes into the future. We're not entirely sure what that means, so we'll need to watch to find out.

THE LAST AMERICAN VAMPIRE

A young FBI-agent is partnered with a 500-year-old vampire and tasked with saving the world from an imminent threat. The show is based on the novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith.

UNTITLED GUILLERMO DEL TORO PROJECT

While not much is known yet about this project, it has been described as a modern zombie story from the Pan's Labyrinth and The Shape of Water director. Although not many details are available, this one sounds especially exciting.

SPIELBERG'S AFTER-DARK

Spielberg is writing a 10-12 chapter horror story, with one minor stipulation: it can only be viewed after midnight.

WIRELESS

Executive-produced by Steven Soderbergh (Ocean's Eleven), this thriller follows a narcissistic college student stranded in the Colorado mountains, who relies solely on his smartphone for his survival. Described as a survival film for a new generation, the story will question whether we can truly trust the technology we rely on so deeply. Sounds like Black Mirror meets The ShiningWireless will star Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One) and Andie MacDowell (Ready or Not).

TRANSMISSIONS

This sci-fi thriller focuses on an isolated scientist at a remote observatory who begins to receive unknown signals from deep space. Jed Mercurio (Netflix's Bodyguard) is attached to the project.

CURS_R

Ridley Scott is an executive producer on this thriller, which follows the story of a broke student who attempts to settle her debt by winning money in a strange computer game from the 1980s that is far more sinister than she originally anticipated.

ICE CREAM MAN

Ice Cream Man no 1 Cover

This horror anthology is based on the Image Comics series, which centers on the titular ice cream man terrorizing a town from his ice cream truck (which sounds particularly horrifying).

SLUGFEST

This is one of the service's unscripted documentaries. It charts the rise and rivalry of DC and Marvel and is executive produced by Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: End Game).

DEAD SPOTS

An adaptation of Melissa F. Olson's 2012 fantasy novel of the same name, which revolves around Los Angeles' magical and supernatural inhabitants, including (but not limited to) witches, werewolves and vampires. Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect) is set as the screenwriter.

WOLVES AND VILLAGERS

naomi-watts-game-of-thrones-prequel-header

Starring Naomi Watts (King Kong, Funny Games) and executive produced by horror extraordinaire Jason Blum (Get Out), this series was described by Quibi founder Katzenberg as "Fatal Attraction 2.0."

50 STATES OF FRIGHT

sam-raimi-spider-man

The legendary Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) is producing this horror anthology based on folklore specific to each of America's 50 states. Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Ming-Na Wen (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Christina Ricci (The Lizzie Borden Chronicles) are a few of the stars set to appear in the series.

EMMA

This horror series is directed by Mary Harron (American Psycho) and stars AnnaSophia Robb (The Act) as a woman whose pregnancy becomes strange and disturbing, a situation that's possibly linked to a conspiracy.

TOMIE

A live-action adaptation of the anime series of the same name, directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes). The series begins as a horror murder mystery about a young girl killed in a small town whose various body parts begin to appear but evolves into something much more sinister (if that's possible).
