Shout! Factory TV is providing a way to get through the dog days of summer: a 24-hour Piranhathon.

Not only will Shout! Factory stream the original Piranha from 1978, it will couple it with the 1995 remake, presenting both back-to-back, over and over, beginning at midnight on Monday, Aug. 9. Piranhathon will stream on ShoutFactoryTV.com and several apps -- Roku, Apple TV and Shout! Factory TV's Amazon Fire TV app. Streaming platforms IMDbTV, Plex, Samsung TV Plus, Twitch, Vizio, Local Now, Redbox, STIRR and XUMO will also carry it, and the Shout! Factory TV platforms will allow streaming on-demand.

The original Piranha, directed by Joe Dante, is a Jaws knockoff that launched a sequel, 1981's Piranha II: The Spawning, and a remake, which inspired two sequels of its own, 2010's Piranha 3D and 2012's Piranha 3DD. The three sequels are not part of the marathon.

Piranha starred Maggie McKeown (Heather Menzies) as a skip-tracer hired to locate missing teens at Lost River Lake. She and guide Paul Grogan (Bradford Dillman) accidentally discover a secret military experiment that's genetically engineering piranhas to be lethal weapons of war. The beasties get loose from the military compound, munching their way toward a children's summer camp and nearby water resort.

The remake starred Mila Kunis in her movie debut, along with Punky Brewster star Soleil Moon Frye and The Greatest American Hero star William Katt. The original Piranha and the remake were both produced by B-movie legend Roger Corman.
