Deadpool 2: Shioli Kutsuna Joins Cast in 'Key Role'

The Japanese actress joins Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz for the upcoming comedy-action sequel.

Another actor has joined the cast of 20th Century Fox's Deadpool 2. Deadline reports Shioli Kutsuna is coming aboard the project in "a key role."

There are a number of possible characters Kutsuna could be cast as within the X-Men universe. With the hint that she will be playing a "key role," Kutsuna may be someone close to the Merc With a Mouth or adapting a member of the X-Men.

Deadpool inserted Colossus as the straight-man to Ryan Reynold's Wade Wilson, so perhaps another X-Man like Armor or Surge will step up to bat in the sequel. Or, perhaps, Negasonic Teenage Warhead will have some competition standing next to Deadpool for all his R-rated puns.

Deadpool 2 co-stars include Josh Brolin as the time-traveling Cable and Zazie Beetz as the luck-altering mercenary Domino. Kutsuna’s resume includes starring alongside Jared Leto in the crime thriller The Outsider, as well as a supporting role in the 2017 comedy-drama Oh Lucy!.

Arriving in theaters June 1, 2018, director David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 sees the return of Ryan Reynolds, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand and Karan Soni, along with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino and Josh Brolin as Cable.
