Shelf Porn | A look into Larry’s ‘Library’

Hello and welcome to Shelf Porn, our weekly visit into the home of a fan. Today’s shelves comes from Larry, whose move into a new house meant he had extra space to show off his stuff.

If you’d like to see your collection featured here you can find instructions on how to do so at the end of this post.

And now take a look at Larry’s collection:

My wife and I recently completed work on our new house and moved in. We actually converted a Post Frame Building (Pole Barn) into a house. It’s taken us nearly three years (working only weekends) to finish but now it’s done. With all the extra space it has allowed me to finally have a dedicated room to properly display and organize my collection of books, music, movies, action-figures and over 7,000 comic books. I call it “The Library.” The biggest feature is a built in bookcase that takes one entire wall from floor to ceiling (over 14 feet in length). I now have room to spare and one shelf I use just to show off my autographs and various memorabilia from conventions including a photo of me with Stan Lee!

The tan paint on the walls I had color matched from a 1980 Marvel comic book page. So I guess we could call it “news-print pulp”. That shelf with all the wiring is my Network Hub where all the communication wiring for the house comes together (I’m a PC tech on the side so I did all that wiring as well). My 18 inch Galactus action figure is standing next to my router.

Highlights of my comic collection include Avengers #145-300 (and many before that), the complete run of Defenders, completed runs of Werewolf By Night, Man-Thing and the first Moon Knight series. I also have Uncanny X-Men #136-281, a large run of Fantastic Four, Thor, Captain America and Marvel’s Conan. As far as new books I am mostly into creator owned stuff like Brian Michael Bendis’s Powers, his various crime books and I LOVE all of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’s collaborations.
