She-Ra and the Princesses of Power has long been noted for fan-favorite cat-girl Catra; however, beyond the cat humanoid, there are regular cats on Etheria too. According to this tweet by Noelle Stevenson, where she shared some unused episode ideas from the original pitch, there was supposed to be a plot involving a cat that Adora thought was Catra in disguise. Not only does the idea of Adora jumping every time this innocent kitten comes into the room sound hilarious, but it opens up some interesting connections to the original She-Ra: Princess of Poweras well as how cats have influenced characters' interactions with Catra.

Having normal, every-day cats in the world of Etheria explains a fair amount of the behavior surrounding Catra. For instance, Double Trouble knows what a kitten is, which leads to the nickname they gave Catra. Similarly, it explains why Scorpia calls Catra "Wildcat" multiple times. It also explains the "Is that a mouse?" jibe Adora gives Catra in Season 1, Episode 1, "The Sword Part 1."

Since there are normal, non-humanoid cats in this universe, it only makes sense that, just like the viewer, the characters have made the connection between Catra and normal cats. It could even be the reasoning behind her name, if fans assume Shadow Weaver named her. Since Shadow Weaver thought of Catra as nothing more than a companion at best, naming her after a domestic animal that shares similar features to her makes sense.

As for the plot of the proposed episode, while vague, the idea of a regular cat actually being Catra in disguise isn't that far off when looking back at the original She-RaThis plotline could have been a reference to Catra's cat-form from the original series, though that idea was much better fleshed-out during Season 2, Episode 4, "Roll With It," where Bow's battle-plan sees all the characters in their original 1985 outfits.

In that same vein, while it wasn't on Etheria, the gang did eventually meet another cat that ended up associated with Catra -- Melog. Some fans have seen this as Catra finally getting her cat-form in the show proper, albeit in the form of another character who is connected to her emotions. While viewers don't know if the normal cat from the pitch would have been anything like the magic panther, it would be easy to see Catra or Adora adopting the feline after the episode's events as a pet, making for wonderfully cute interactions.
