A new trailer for the upcoming Netflix series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power reveals a new backstory for the titular hero, as well a look at both the villain Hordak and the Princesses of Power.

The trailer introduces a new take on She-Ra while hewing close to the hero's original origin story. In the trailer, She-Ra is a member of the Evil Horde, trained her entire life to bring misery and subjugation to the people of Eternia. While this is in keeping with the character's classic story, a greater emphasis is placed on the character Catra.

The trailer reveals that She-Ra and Catra are friends, and that She-Ra is harshly conflicted about leaving the Evil Horde because of her friendship with Catra. This is quite the change from the original series, which cast Catra as a savage enemy who was out to advance within the Evil Horde at all costs.

The trailer also introduces viewers to the rebooted versions of Hordak, the leader of the Evil Horde, and the Princesses of Power, the altruistic sisterhood tasked with defending Eternia from the Evil Horde. It sounds like the Princesses of Power have fallen into disrepair when the series kicks off and it's She-Ra's job to kickstart it.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power's first season will be released in full on Netflix on Nov. 16.
