The following contains spoilers for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Season 1, Episode 4, "Is This Not Real Magic?" which debuted Sept. 8, on Disney+.

The best Doctor Strange stories, in the comics and the movies, deal with the original Sorcerer Supreme's ego and, sometimes, lack of accountability. Yet now Wong (Benedict Wong) holds that title. Rather than being better at the job, he's running rampant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe the problem isn't Strange, it's simply sorcerers.

The MCU Phase Four has been the Wong era. Since Avengers: Endgame, he's appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, What If…? and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This is on top of his, now, multiple episodes of She-Hulk. Wong is capable, from gathering the forces to defeat Thanos to handling the hulkish Abomination in a fighting ring. Only, he's more concerned with avoiding 15-year-old The Sopranos spoilers than he is in cleaning up his own messes. He also has no respect for work hours or schedules.

In No Way Home, fans learned that since Strange was dusted by Thanos, Wong ended up as Sorcerer Supreme by default. If She-Hulk took place during The Blip, his story about fighting The Abomination to prove himself worthy of the job would make sense. However, since this is after that time, Wong is only just getting around to actually earning the title he got by default. Wong is a librarian and former Target employee, but he is hopping around the MCU like he doesn't have a care in the world, at least until his own problems, literally, drop into his living room.

Donny Blaze (Rhys Coiro) is apparently not a Ghost Rider tease, but instead the stage name of a failed sorcerer. Wong tells Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) that Blaze was kicked out of Kamar Taj for hosting a kegger with a former fraternity brother. Wong tossed him out, but apparently he took some sorcery knowledge and a sling ring with him. Instead of facing down his new nemesis, Wong instead sics his attorney on him.

Wong demonstrates a pattern of neglectful behavior. Upon discovering that Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) possessed an alien artifact broadcasting a signal, did he delve into the library to learn what it could be? No! He instead went to a karaoke bar, getting hammered with Shang-Chi instead of preparing him for the battles to come. In No Way Home, he was aware that his subordinate Stephen (Benedict Cumberbatch) was preparing to do a spell Wong himself described as "messy." And he almost broke the universe. Where was Wong? On some winter vacation with two suitcases.

During the trial of Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), not only did Wong admit that he kidnapped a federal prisoner and forced him to fight against his will, he refused to take accountability for it. Clearly this is in violation of the Sokovia Accords, which may or may not be still a thing. The MCU deserves a Sorcerer Supreme who knows what they're doing. Say what you will about the Ancient One, at least she ran a tight ship.

Wong will likely continue to wreak havoc on the poor unsuspecting citizens of the MCU, who've arguably gone through enough. Marvel fans cannot let his sweet face and charming demeanor sway them from holding this reckless sorcerer accountable.

See what other disregard Wong has for responsibility when She-Hulk: Attorney at Law debuts new episodes Thursdays on Disney+.
