Marvel Studios has released the first official trailer for its Disney+ original series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law -- which reveals, among other things, the first look at actor Jameela Jamil as She-Hulk's arch-nemesis, Titania.

It was first reported in June 2021 that Jamil had joined the cast of the Marvel Studios show, then simply titled She-Hulk, as the villain Titania. Jamil confirmed her casting the following month. In the She-Hulk trailer, Jamil's Titania is seen sporting an outfit that wouldn't look out of place at a professional wrestling event, an apparent nod to the character's origins.

She-Hulk Titania

In Marvel's comic book universe, the original Titania, Davida DaVito, was a wrestler and supervillain who later came to be known as Lascivious. However, Jamil is most likely portraying the second Titania, Mary MacPherran. Created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck, Mary MacPherran/Titania first appeared in 1984's Secret Wars #3.

Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Mary was bullied while growing up due to her short stature and scrawny physique, as well as her family's tight financial situation. As a teenager, she worked as a salesclerk alongside her only friend, Marsha Rosenberg. Mary often dreamed about acquiring superpowers so that she might take revenge on her bullies.

She got her opportunity during the Secret Wars event series. In exchange for serving the villainous Doctor Doom, Mary and Marsha were given power of their own, becoming Titania and Volcana, respectively. It was during Secret Wars that Titania first battled Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, beginning a long rivalry between the two. In the comics, Titania is also married to boxer turned supervillain Carl "Crusher" Creel/Absorbing Man.

In Marvel Studios' She-Hulk series, the lead role of Jennifer Walters is played by Tatiana Maslany. The show is slated to premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, Aug. 17. A full synopsis can be read below:
