She-Hulk: Attorney at Law director Anu Valia explained what makes Jameela Jamil's Mary MacPherran/Titania so scary.

In an interview with Marvel, Valia explained why Titania is so scary, saying, "That villain is the scariest type of villain. As a woman, that 'mean girl' who wants your ass like that is the worst. There's nothing worse [than that]. If someone wants to beat me up, that's kind of fine. But if someone wants to humiliate me and dress me down? There's truly nothing worse."

Introduced in the first episode of She-Hulk, "A Normal Amount of Rage," Titania has been a consistent thorn in Jennifer Walters' side throughout the series so far. In the fifth episode, "Mean, Green and Straight Poured into These Jeans," which was directed by Valia, Walters had to fight Titania in court for the legal rights to the name She-Hulk, which the latter had copyrighted. Their rivalry again returns in "Just Jen," the latest episode of the show.

Who Is Titania?

Created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck, Titania debuted in 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #3 . The character possesses enhanced strength and durability, which have allowed her to serve as one of She-Hulk's fiercest enemies. Still, in recent years, Titania has reformed from being a villain and is instead more of an antihero.

The version of Titania appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has some key differences from the one in the comics. She-Hulk depicts the character as a social media influencer. Jamil, for her part, characterized Titania as the MCU's "most annoying" villain, saying, "I think she almost doesn't need to use her strength; she could just annoy you to death. And I think that is a superpower that we haven't really utilized enough."
