Tatiana Maslany is one of most diverse actresses on contemporary television, which may sound like huge praise for those who haven't heard of her before the announcement of her casting as She-Hulk in the Disney+ series of the same name. However, for those who have watched her act on the BBC series Orphan Black, they most likely agree that she's one of the best television actresses in recent years. This can be credited to how on Orphan Black Maslany doesn't give one great performance; she gives multiple great performances in the same show as several unique characters.

Maslany has been on the HBO series Perry Mason and has appeared on Parks and Recreation, but Orphan Black is where she gives the performances of her career. It also wouldn't be surprising if her time on the show influenced her casting on She-Hulk.

For those unfamiliar with Orphan Black, the show is about a struggling but rebellious single mother named Sarah Manning suddenly seeing someone who looks exactly like her jump in front of an oncoming train to commit suicide. If that wasn't shocking enough, Manning decides to take her doppelganger's belongings and identity in an attempt to claim her assets and figure out who she is.

In the following episodes, Manning discovers that decades earlier she was the result of an illegal cloning experiment, and most of the clones of her have been unaware of this until now. While there are several clones of the #CloneClub that make sporadic appearances throughout the show, there are five main ones who appear in nearly every episode, and all of them are played by Maslany.

There's Sarah the suburban housewife, Cosima the hipster scientist, Rachel the corporate cutthroat and Helena the brainwashed killer. Maslany has the difficult task of playing each of those characters, often when they're interacting with each other. She masterfully pulls off the illusion to the audience that while each of the clones look alike, they're different people with different motives and character development.

This is why her casting as both Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk is perfect because Maslany is more than capable of playing different characters on the same show. While Walters and She-Hulk are technically the same person, they are different personalities just as Bruce Banner and Hulk are. By playing five different main characters on one show, Maslany should bring plenty of depth and character development to the two main characters of She-Hulk.

The best talents in the world are the ones who are versatile in portraying different personalities, and Maslany manages to prove this in the same show along with other performances in comedies and dramas. With plenty of series and films from Marvel's Phase 4 in the future, Maslany maybe the next breakout star in the MCU with the impressive dual roles as Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk.

Developed for television by Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty) and starring Tatiana Maslany, She-Hulk is slated to premiere exclusively on Disney+.
