She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Jameela Jamil, who plays the titular Jade Giantess's archenemy Titania, revealed that the version of the Marvel character in the upcoming Disney+ series won't be the same as in the comics.

Jamil touched upon this change while speaking to Screen Rant, saying that She-Hulk isn't "telling the comic book version of Titania," though she hopes to eventually do that version. "[Titania's] backstory, I think, is one of the coolest in the whole of the MCU," she said. "But we're telling a brand-new version of Titania, concocted in [head writer] Jessica Gao's brain. It's very modern and fresh and silly and funny, but still with the throughline of Titania's insecurity being at the core of all of her issues with She-Hulk."

During the same interview, Jamil didn't reveal what changes She-Hulk had made to the character. Created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck, Titania made her Marvel Comics debut in Secret Wars #3 in 1984. In the comics, Titania was given her powers by Doctor Doom, but seeing as how the Lord of Latveria has not yet been introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show may give Titania a new origin story.

Jameela Jamil Worried Titania Was Too Physical of a Role

In a previous interview, Jamil delved into how playing the character gave her more self-confidence, recalling that she originally didn't audition for Titania because she was worried about the role's more physical aspects. "And [Marvel Studios] convinced me to come to Atlanta and spend six months there and train six days a week, lift weights, and do kung fu and jujitsu and learn how to fight in a harness up in the sky," said Jamil. "I have done things I never thought my body could do. And it has changed the way that I feel about myself. It has changed my gate, like, the way I stand. It has changed my confidence and it has changed the way I feel about my body since I gained weight for the role."

Titania won't be the only new character She-Hulk will bring into the MCU. While the series' first trailer offered a first look at Frog-Man, it has been rumored that The Thing of the Fantastic Four will also make his MCU debut as well (played by Jason Segal), though there has been no official confirmation from Marvel Studios regarding that. Tying into this, Gao has previously teased that She-Hulk will have "a lot of characters that have never existed in the MCU before that we're pulling out of the comic books," in addition to a large number of cameos.
