The following contains spoilers for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Season 1, Episode 9, "Whose Show Is This?" now streaming on Disney+.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's season finale was unlike anything anyone expected. While it had a big climax, it was done in a way that took everything everyone knew about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turned it on its head. Rather than face off against a major villain, Jennifer broke the fourth wall and went to speak directly to the head of Marvel Studios, a super-intelligent AI named K.E.V.I.N. In their conversation, Jennifer restructured her finale to be something fitting for her character and left the story open for even more future possibilities.

But even though the finale played on the many tropes of the MCU, it wasn't the only franchise the show borrowed from. In this case, the series managed to sneak in a fitting but clever reference to the Fast & Furious franchise. But what made the nod so special wasn't the event itself but how it perfectly captured why family is so important for the Hulks.

She-Hulk's Ending Is Just Like Fast & Furious'

In the Fast & Furious films, it became a common occurrence that after the film's finale, the Torretto family would sit with a huge meal to take stock of all the things that they have. More often than not, each entry also meant that their family would grow a little more with one or two new additions. Some may have always been friends, while others were eventually accepted as allies. Nevertheless, the meals were always about growth and acceptance.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's version of this moment was perfect as it represented everything Jen had accomplished on the show. While it was a strange journey to figure out the person she wanted to be, Jennifer did it and was able to surround herself with family and friends, including Matt Murdock. It was a small scene, but it felt like a normal family dinner as the discussions weren't about what had happened but more about what they have now and what comes next.

A Family Cookout Is Perfect for She-Hulk

Hulk and Skaar in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

Ever since The Incredible Hulk, all Bruce Banner wanted in life was companionship and family. He was always alone or on the run and never had a chance to settle down and figure out what he wanted. But as the years went on, he found family and eventually found that he had made one on his own with the debut of his son, Skaar. As a result, he, along with Jennifer's story of self-discovery, helped show that a Hulk's greatest strength is the family they surround themselves with.

While the heroes at the cookout often shoulder their problems on their own, borrowing a scene from Fast & Furious helped to show that no matter what, Jennifer and Bruce would always have family to come back to. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law may not always be a self-reflective journey and may follow a weird path at times, but in the end, all roads lead back to home and the family that loves unconditionally.
