She-Hulk: Attorney at Law director Kat Coiro recently explained why the Disney+ and Marvel Studios series highlights the title character's personal life rather than her superhero exploits.

Coiro delved into the show's non-traditional superhero plot during an interview with Total Film, saying, "So much of what I think is fresh about [She-Hulk] is it really is about a woman living a very regular life even though she happens to be imbued with these superpowers and so, while we play into some of the tropes of the genre – like villains! – we have the luxury of a series that doesn't have a ticking plot clock." Coiro concluded by saying She-Hulk's plot is "really about getting to know the characters" and letting viewers see the moments that they never get to explore in plot-driven stories. "So we tease Titania," she continued. "She will come back but she doesn't need to come back immediately, and that way we get to really get to know our characters."

Prior to Coiro's interview, head writer Jessica Gao discussed focusing on characters as people in She-Hulk while teasing that the series would have a great deal of Marvel cameos. "The universe is ending, half of the people in existence are getting snapped out," Gao noted. "And we never really have the time to really explore who these people are, what are their regular lives like. And what's really nice about this is we actually get the time and the space to do that."

She-Hulk Isn't Your Typical Marvel Superhero

As for the Jade Giantess herself, leading lady Tatiana Maslany described She-Hulk as "the antithesis of most superhero narratives," adding, "There's this great element of denial in her that's relatable. For me, it was about rejecting what's happened for as long as I could, as that's what causes the fun tension between Jennifer and She-Hulk." Maslany would later discuss She-Hulk's identity crisis in the show, saying she found the different ways Jennifer is treated as both her normal self and her big, green alter ego compelling.

Of course, She-Hulk won't be limited in the superhero department. The show will, of course, see Daredevil return, with Coiro having previously explained why the Man Without Fear will be a fan favorite and Gao promising he'll be comic book accurate. She-Hulk will also introduce Frog-Man and is rumored to introduce The Thing of the Fantastic Four, though Marvel Studios has not confirmed such an appearance.
