She-Hulk: Attorney at Law showrunner Jessica Gao promises Marvel Cinematic Universe fans that Daredevil's upcoming appearance in the Disney+ series will be comic book accurate.

Speaking to Collider, Gao shared her reaction during pre-production on She-Hulk when she received news about Matt Murdock/Daredevil being accessible with Charlie Cox reprising the role from his Netflix series. Gao could not resist the opportunity to bring the Man Without Fear into the MCU half-hour legal comedy.

"Daredevil was a special case," said Gao. "Most of the time, what we do is mine the movies and the comics, and we pick a character we wanna use, then we think of what the best and funniest way is for us to use them, and then we ask Marvel if we can have them. But Daredevil was a dream that we dared not dream. We were like, "Oh, there's no way. That's not even on the table." It never even crossed our minds. And then, we got wind, one day, that not only was he on the table, but Charlie Cox would be coming back as Daredevil, so we immediately started thinking of ways to incorporate him into our show. If we only had a snowball's chance in hell of getting him on our show, it was still a chance, and we were gonna take it."

While She-Hulk takes more of a comedic tone than the gritty street-level tone of the Daredevil Netflix series, Gao assures MCU fans that Cox's dedication to the original Marvel comic will maintain consistency to the Devil of Hell's Kitchen while showing off his lighter side with Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany). "He has such reverence and love for that character," Gao continued. "It's clear that the character meant so much to him, but he also came very game to play around. He was totally up for more funny banter and having this fun dynamic with Jen and She-Hulk."

Following Netflix's cancellation of Daredevil in 2018, the Man Without Fear's future was uncertain. Then in 2021, Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock for a surprise cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker's lawyer after the Wall-Crawler gets framed for murdering Mysterio. After the conclusion of She-Hulk, Cox will reprise the role in the Hawkeye spin-off series Echo and will star in his own series once again with Daredevil: Born Again in Spring 2024. Both series are set to release on Disney+.

Episodes One and Two of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law are currently streaming on Disney+. New episodes premiere every Thursday through Oct. 13.
