BILLY BATSON AND THE POWER OF SHAZAM
Looking forward to seeing John August’s version of the character go toe to toe with the Rock as Black Adam? Well, forget about it, or so August said on his blog. He wrote, “By the time I got back, the project was dead. By ‘dead,’ I mean that it won’t be happening. I don’t think it’s on the studio’s radar at all. It may come back in another incarnation, with another writer, but I can say with considerable certainty that it won’t be the version I developed.” This is unusual given a fairly recent press release confirming Peter Segal would be directing August’s script.

THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD
The Pulse has an interview with actor David McCallum, who discussed playing Merlin on Friday’s episode of the animated series. “One of the first things I ever did was in 1946 on radio for the BBC,” McCallum said. “I started with voices. Now I’m playing a magician and learning some tricks of the trade. I watched one episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold a while back and thought everyone involved was doing wonderful things. I didn’t read a lot of Batman growing up. We didn’t have access to many US superhero comics, we had a war going on! I’d love to work on this again, or any other cartoon. It was great fun.”
Starring Deidrich Bader, next episode January 9, 2009, “Enter the Outsiders.”
