Right off the bat, 2019's Shazam! distinguished itself from its fellow DC Extended Universe films by forgoing the DC Films intro.Ahead of many DCEU films, the DC logo is displayed with an animated sequence that shows silhouettes of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, The Flash and Green Lantern. The image then rotates and pulls back to show even more DC superheroes standing side-by-side in a fog, which then morphs into the DC logo. However, the Shazam! opening titles omits this sequence. In a tweet, director David F. Sandberg revealed why.RELATED: Shazam! Home Release Features a Ton of Deleted & Alternate Scenes

"Truth is I forgot," Sandberg admitted. He added that there are "various theories" about why the sequence was missing, but he chalked it up to something that simply fell through the cracks while shepherding the $100 million production to completion. "Some people don't believe that," he wrote. "'The studio would have said something!' Well. They didn't."

Even without the sequence -- or objections from New Line Cinema, DC Films or Warner Bros. Pictures -- Shazam! went on to make $366 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. Warner Bros. soon greenlit a sequel that is slated for an April 2022 release.
