A few months ago, there were increasing rumors that Henry Cavill's Superman would make a cameo appearance in David F. Sandberg's upcoming DC film, Shazam! Fans who were hoping to see Cavill reprise his role after Justice League were obviously excited, however those rumors were later squashed when the movie wrapped principal photography and sources confirmed that the Cavill cameo had been scrapped from the film.

Now however, those hopes have just sparked anew. The Instagram account of ProdWeekly has just confirmed that Shazam! will be heading back to Toronto, where it originally filmed, for reshoots that are set to last for almost three weeks.

The same post was made on ProdWeekly's Twitter account, and it didn't take long for fans of Warner Bros.' so-called DC Extended Universe to start hoping for a Henry Cavill cameo. Such an appearance would make a whole lot of sense, considering that Billy Batson's superhero alter ego, Shazam, is based on the superheroes he knows -- a league that is led and inspired by Superman.

However, these hopes might be for naught. After all, it was widely reported that Henry Cavill had exited the DCEU some time ago, a rumor that only took more credence once it was announced that the actor had signed up to star as the lead of Netflix's upcoming television adaptation of The Witcher. But then, other reports would state that the news that Cavill was leaving the DCEU was fabricated, and that he was still passionate about the role.

And yet, last we heard, a recent report published by Variety claimed that Warner Bros. was now ready to move on from both Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman. As it stands, we have no clue of the actual status of Henry Cavill's Superman in the DCEU. For all we know, the character could very well appear in Shazam!, but it's also possible that the actor is simply done with the role.

Either way, we might find out more information when Shazam! heads to Toronto for reshoots from November 1 to 18.
