after teasing out movie images for more than week, offering the first genuine look at zachary levi in his hotly debated superhero costume, warner bros. at long last said the magic word today at comic-con international in san diego, and unveiled the first trailer for shazam!

not only does the trailer serve up our first footage from the motion picture, but it provides plenty to drool over in terms of humor and spectacle, teasing levi's big red cheese and mark strong's villainous doctor sivana.

offering up the dceu's lightest entry to date, shazam! clearly looks set out to broaden the overall tone of the dc comics cinematic universe. the trailer narratively follows the origin of the orphaned billy batson as he takes shelter in a foster home and acquires the powers of the wizard, shazam! we get a taste of the character's powers, in addition to the humor injected into the film. overall, the film looks like it's following up on the promise to be the "big" of superhero movies, as teased by star zachary levi some time ago.
