Shazam! Movie Debuts New Comics-Inspired Poster

Warner Bros. has released an exclusive, comics-inspired poster Shazam! for Comic Con Experience, taking place this weekend in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Drawn by comics artist Ivan Reis, the images depicts Asher Angel as Billy Batson, transforming into Zachary Levi’s Shazam. Reis is no stranger to the superhero, having drawn the character while working on Justice League with writer Geoff Johns.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, the highly anticipated film that promises to return to the spotlight Shazam (formerly known as Captain Marvel, the most popular comic book superhero for much of the 1940s, even outselling Superman. DC relaunched the character this week in his own monthly title, written by Johns and illustrated by Dale Eaglesham.

Shazam! followed Billy Batson, a 14-year-old orphan living in Philadelphia who's bestowed by an ancient wizard with the ability to transform himself into an adult superhero by uttering a magic word: "Shazam."

Arriving April 5, 2019, director David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Zachary Levi as Shazam, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Djimon Hounsou as an ancient wizard named Shazam, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Jack Dylan Grazer as Frederick “Freddy” Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vásquez and Marta Milans as Rosa Vásquez.
