Arriving courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, the image shows Levi and Jack Dylan Grazer, who plays Freddy Freeman, guzzling soda outside a convenience store.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! completed principal photography in May in Toronto. Based on the classic Fawcett/DC comics, Shazam! centers on orphaned 14-year-old Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who's granted the powers of six ancient heroes by a dying wizard (Djimon Hounsou). When he says the word "Shazam," he's transformed by a magic lightning bolt into the adult superhero.
“I wanted to keep the shorter cape as a throwback to the original because that’s something that sets him apart from Superman or Batman,” Sandberg explained of the costume to EW. “It makes him feel a bit more Golden Age superhero, which is the vibe I’m going for.”
Although nothing official has been announced, it's widely speculated that the first footage from Shazam! will be revealed Saturday, July 21, during Warner Bros.' Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
Arriving April 5, 2019, Shazam! is directed by David F. Sandberg and stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Zachary Levi as Shazam, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Djimon Hounsou as an ancient wizard named Shazam, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Jack Dylan Grazer as Frederick “Freddy” Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vázquez and Marta Milans as Rosa Vázquez.
