Mark Strong (Green Lantern, Kingsman: The Secret Service) is reportedly "in talks" to play the villainous Dr. Sivana in New Line Cinema's upcoming adaptation of the DC Comics superhero Shazam.

According to TheWrap's report, Sivana looks to be the villain of the Shazam! movie. Created for 1940's Whiz Comics #2, the character has served as the most frequent antagonist for the titular DC hero. Originally a good-natured scientist, humanity drove Sivana to madness, and eventually to the planet Venus. Returning to Earth as a villain, Sivana used his plethora of gadgets and inventions in battle with the entire Marvel Family, which is reproted to play a key role in the upcoming DCEU film.

Set to shoot from February until May in Toronto, Ontario, the DCEU film was thought to star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as longtime Shazam! foe Black Adam, until it was revealed the character would instead feature in his own solo film. It now seems Sivana will take place of Black Adam as the film's central villain.

The next DC film to go into production, Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi as the title character and directed by Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation’s David F. Sandberg, hits theaters in April, 2019.
