The World's Mightiest Family gets fleshed out in official character descriptions for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, revealing updated facts about each member.

Shared on DC.com via the site's shopping section, the descriptions are complemented by illustrations of the heroes. Naturally, they start with Billy Batson/Shazam himself. Aside from briefly recapping Billy's origin from the first movie, the description also states that Shazam has gained a reputation for "leaving a bit of a mess behind in the wake of his heroic acts" and that Billy is struggling to be worthy of his responsibilities as Shazam. The subsequent descriptions for the other members -- Freddy Freeman, Pedro Peña, Mary Bromfield, Darla Dudley and Eugene Choi -- similarly bring fans up to speed on those characters, notably revealing how Freddy has a crush on a new girl at school and Pedro getting "a newfound interest in baseball" while having to put up with self-confidence issues for a while.

The Shazam Family's Skills

Last year, well before the release of the descriptions, director David F. Sandberg himself disclosed details about the characters, albeit in a less-than-positive light regarding their competency at being superheroes. "[Fury of the Gods is] still Shazam's movie, but it's also about the family," he commented at the time. "They've all been superheroes for a while now, trying to stop crime and save people. But they're not very good at it. The city [of Philadelphia] has dubbed them the Philly Fiascos."

Adult Darla actor Meagan Good also discussed the family in an interview with CBR earlier that same year, during which she revealed that she couldn't say too much about Fury of the Gods, but still provided insight. "What I will say is you get a better sense of [Darla's] personality -- who she is, how she thinks, and how she fits into the Shazam Family, because they are each so vastly different," continued Goode. "Also, just in being teenagers, it's where they are in their lives at that point in time, based on what they are into and all that."

As for Fury of the Gods' storyline, Sandberg said that the film actually takes more cues from Greek mythology instead of the comics. "We landed there because Shazam's powers come from Greek gods," he explained. "So what if those powers were stolen from the gods and now they want revenge?" The director went on to tease the other characters in the sequel before remarking that it was "really cool diving into mythology, rather than comic books."

Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrives in theaters on March 17.
