Despite the fact that the DC Extended Universe faced an uncertain future with regards to Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill, Shazam! still managed to include a Superman cameo. Only not in the way fans might have expected. Director David F. Sandberg has now provided a version of that final film scene.The director posted a clip on social media featuring the last cafeteria scene in Shazam!. He wrote, "I know a lot of you asked for this but I'm not so sure this is an improvement." The scene unfolds as it did in the theatrical release, until Superman appears. That's when the music bursts into a swell and the camera pans up to reveal Henry Cavill's face at the end of an uncomfortably long, serpentine neck.RELATED: Shazam! Director David F. At the time of Shazam!'s release into theaters, Cavill's future with Warner Bros.' shared film universe had already been called into question. Numerous unconfirmed reports appeared, suggesting that he had already left the franchise, though the actor later expressed that he had no intention on abandoning the iconic role.

It has been indicated that Superman will make a full appearance in the DCEU once more, as Henry Cavill was recently reported to be in talks with Warner Bros. regarding an upcoming project. Details are scarce but it has been revealed that the film will not be a Man of Steel sequel.
