Concept Artist Jerad S.Marantz has revealed some concept art behind DC's Shazam, featuring the Wizard Shazam dressed in much more regal attire than what was shown in the 2019 film or its comic book source material.

The caption simply reads, "#Shazam! Wizard #conceptart. This was a fast one. Amazing team on their show! #shazam #costume #character #dcu #costumeconceptart"

In the film, the Wizard's robes still featured the golden trim but lacked the high collar seen in this concept art. Overall, his robes looked more weathered and aged.

In Geoff Johns' take on the story of Shazam, the Wizard simply wore an old, tattered red cloak. This design was the jumping-off point for the film's interpretation. Most of the 2019 film took inspiration from other parts of Johns' run as well, especially for Billy's backstory.

In his debut in Whiz Comics #2 (February 1940), the Wizard wore a simple white garb instead. In his debut, the Wizard was supposedly drawn to resemble Billy Batson's superhero alter ego, but with a bald head and a beard instead.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Zachary Levi as Shazam, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Djimon Hounsou as the ancient wizard Shazam, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vásquez and Marta Milans as Rosa Vásquez. The film is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD.
