According to Variety, Fulton will play a friend to Billy Batson, the young boy who transforms into the titular hero when he utters the word, "Shazam!" Fulton previously worked with the film's director, David F. Sandberg, on the horror sequel Annabelle: Creation.

Set to shoot from February until May in Toronto, Ontario, the DCEU film was thought to star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as longtime Shazam! foe Black Adam, until it was revealed the character would instead feature in his own solo film. It now seems Sivana will take place of Black Adam as the film’s central villain.
