Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema's Shazam! 2 has landed a release date of April 1, 2022.

This news comes hot on the heels of Warner Bros. granting its long-gestating Flash film a release date of July 1, 2022.

The first Shazam!, which opened in April 2019, left the doors open for a sequel with a mid-credits scene that teased a team-up between Dr. Thaddeus Sivana and Mister Mind. Shortly after its release, Warner Bros. signed Henry Gayden to pen the script for the second installment, and it was reported that the studio expected director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran to similarly return.

Elsewhere in the world of Shazam, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam finally received a release date of Dec. 22, 2021 after years of spinning its wheels. That film isn't expected to include Zachary Levi's Shazam or Asher Angel's Billy Batson, but it is poised to introduce the Justice Society of America to the DC Extended Universe.
