Set photos from Shazam! Fury of the Gods offer the first look at Helen Mirren's costume for her demi-god role as Hespera.Just Jared captured the photos of Mirren on the Shazam 2 set with star Zachary Levi, who is also wearing his superhero costume. The first photo shows Mirren dressed for battle as her costume contains armor around the shoulders, chest and waist areas. A sword is sheathed on her waist and her head features a crown around her long white hair that's wrapped in a ponytail. The second photo appears to be between takes as Mirren and Levi catch a meal together on a wooden picnic table.
Earlier in the day, director David F. Sandberg scooped the scoopers by leaking a photo of the Shazam Family donning their new superhero suits. "Don’t know how long we can keep the new suits from leaking so here’s a pic I took the other day," Sandberg tweeted.
Helen Mirren was reported to be joining the cast of Shazam 2 in March, as she takes on the role of Hespera, one of the film's possible villains. Hespera is the daughter of Atlas and the sister of Rachel Zegler's mystery character. Lucy Liu will portray Kalypso, the sister of Helen Mirren's Hespera.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars Zachary Levi as Shazam, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Marta Milans as Mama Rosa, Helen Mirren as Hespera, Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Rachel Zegler in an undisclosed role. The film arrives in theaters June 2, 2023.
